On the heels of Man of Steel opening big at the box office, we now have confirmation that a sequel is in the works and it may even hit theaters next year. Not to be outdone by that super announcement, Sony made one of its own by staking claim in release dates for two more Amazing Spider-Man sequels bringing us all the way to 2018. Say what? On this week's podcast, Fandango's Erik Davis and Sean O'Connell break all this superhero news down for you and tell you what we expect to happen next. Also, are World War Z and Monsters University worth seeing in theaters this weekend? Find out by listening below. Thanks again for stopping... Read More Read Comments
We recently ran a column where one of our Family Room bloggers explained how her children were bouncing off the walls with excitement in anticipation for Disney’s Planes. They are huge fans of Pixar’s Cars franchise, and the idea of revisiting a world that exists “above the world of Cars” has them giddy. I wish I could see their faces when they get a load of these three exclusive character banners Walt Disney Studios shared with us this morning. Meet the stars of Disney’s Planes. We expect them to soar to amazing animated heights this summer: The posters introduce us to Dusty (Dane Cook) and Ishani (Priyanka Chopra) in "They've got Altitude;" Rochelle (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) and El Chupacabra (Carlos... Precious little information has been made available about Guillermo del Toro's much anticipated Pacific Rim, this summer's "monsters vs. giant robots" movie that opens on July 12. It all changes right now. We flew to Toronto back in March 2012 to visit the Pacific Rim set at Pinewood Studios on day 87 of a scheduled 103-day shoot. As we walked around the production offices (the film's working title was Still Seas) and the massive set of "The Hong Kong Incident" and chatted with del Toro, the cast and crew, we gleaned insight into the secretive production about giant monsters called Kaiju that have risen from a "bridge between two dimensions" beneath the Pacific Ocean to wage war against mankind in the near future. In retaliation, humans have... Read More Read Comments

With Chinese companies Jiaflix Enterprises and China Movie Channel coproducing Transformers 4 with Paramount and Hasbro, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that the latest installment in Michael Bay's Transformers franchise will have a heavy Chinese influence. And because it's a Transformers (and more importantly, a Michael Bay) movie, you know there's going to be a ton of destruction. Three Chinese landmarks have been targeted to face the wrath of Bay's CGI team. China.org.cn reports that a deal has been signed between the producers of the film and the Chinese hotel company Beijing Pangu. In exchange for financing, the company's flagship building Pangu Plaza Hotel (above) will be featured and destroyed in the upcoming movie. The other two... Read More Read Comments
Ever since Fifty Shades of Grey became a "thing" and Universal and Focus Features made it one of their priorities, there have been rampant rumors as to who would be cast as leads Christian and Anastasia and who would be directing the project. At least one of those questions has been answered today as Deadline revealed that Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor-Johnson has been "secured" to direct the film. As a film chronicling the early days of John Lennon's life, Nowhere Boy earned Taylor-Johnson several BAFTA Film Award nominations, multiple critics' groups honors and helped elevate star (and eventual husband) Aaron Taylor-Johnson's resume as far as non-Kick-Ass related films go. The film adaptation of E.L. James' best-selling novel was written by... Read More Read Comments
Before you post that E! News blurb glorifying Lindsay Lohan's latest run-in with the law on your Facebook page, just remember that it's a slippery slope. Thanks to today's endless fire hose of social media, we now have so much access to celebrities' lives that the lines between reality and reality TV have blurred beyond recognition. Everyone is clamoring to get their 15 minutes, and why shouldn't they—that's all that matters anymore these days, right? Based on actual events, Sofia Coppola's latest film The Bling Ring takes a revealing and uncomfortably accurate look into the lives of several misguided and borderline sociopathic teens living in Los Angeles. Utterly consumed by the luxury lifestyles of their fave... Read More Read Comments
Turkeys have been synonymous with Thanksgiving for several centuries now. But what if a couple of birds went back in time and altered the course of history? What would we be munching on during that last Thursday in November? That's the premise of the new holiday-themed animated comedy Free Birds arriving in theaters November 1. Here's the full synopsis for the film: Owen Wilson voices a lucky turkey named Reggie who gets pardoned by the president and is sent to live his life comfortably at a farm in Camp David. But as soon as Reggie gets settled in, he meets a wild turkey named Jake (Woody Harrelson) who recruits him to help scour a military base for a hidden time machine which Jake plans to use to go back in time to the first Thanksgiving and somehow get... Happy Shailene Woodley Wednesday everyone! The day got kicked off with word that the actress who was set to play Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had been bumped to Spider-Man 3. Later in the day, director Marc Webb and Woodley both commented on the matter. Marc Webb's statement: "I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship. Shailene is an incredibly talented actress, and while we only shot a few scenes with Mary Jane, we all love working with her." Woodley told Entertainment Weekly, "Of course I'm bummed. But I'm a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason… Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand holding off on introducing Mary Jane until... Read More Read Comments
