"The US Open" Tennis Championship, is an outdoor hard court tennis tournament, and one of the four majors that comprise the Grand Slam (the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon).
The Open is held annually in August and September at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing New York. The center is named after Billie Jean King a four-time tournament champion, and tennis pioneer. The center has four venues that provides tennis fans with several choices to see their favorite tennis players in action. Arthur Ashe Stadium is the main venue of the complex (seats 22,547), along with the Louis Armstrong Stadium (seats 10,200), the Grandstand Stadium (seats 6,000) and several sidecourts (seat 1,000). All the courts are lighted.
